dc.description.abstract"Pas de Deux" consists of two autonomous, wheeled robots who dance with each other on a specially designed dance floor. Each robot is approximately two feet in diameter and five feet tall. Each robot has flexible appurtenances which flow with the dance motions. Both robots are completely autonomous. They have no attached cables. They are not remotely controlled. No attempt is made to anthropomorphize the robots. Their structures are unmistakably mechanical, yet their behaviors are enchantingly complex and beautiful.en_US
