Abstract

Sidney Tarrow is the Maxwell M.Upson Emeritus Professor of Government and an Adjunct Professor in the Cornell Law School. A fellow the American Academy of Arts and Science, he has also taught at Yale University, and has been visiting professor at the Universities of Florence, Pavia, Trento, and the Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques in Paris. Past President of the Comparative Political section of the American Political Science Association, he has also served as President of the Conference Group of Italian Politics and Society.

Tarrow is the author of Peasant Communism in Southern Italy, Between Center and Periphery: Grassroots Politics in Italy and France, Democracy and Disorder: Protest and Politics in Italy, 1965-1974, Power in Movement, Strangers at the Gates, (and with David S. Meyer) The Resistance: The Dawn of the Anti-Trump Opposition Movement, (with Charles Tilly) Contentious Politics, and (with Doug McAdam and Tilly) Dynamics of Contention.
