This web-based project is a response to an escalating persecution of workers who lack immigration papers, and a projection in urban planning terms, of the evolving American concept of the Sanctuary City. It consists of an online map of the US marked with real data, uploaded interactively, about the raids that ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) carries out in workplaces and communities. This collective, "bottom up" mapping will accommodate the embedding of another form of data visualization: zoom-in areas will reveal fictionalized models of towns offering some form of sanctuary to immigrants.en_US
