I've always been interested in robots. They bridge the abstract world of digital computers with the concrete world of physical experience. As an engineer, my students and I study the fundamental capabilities of robots. As an artist, I'm interested in what robots can show us about being human. My work explores interactions between human/machine, human/human and human/nature. I'm fascinated by the ways that technology mediates these relationships and how mediation changes our understanding of perception, control and reality.
